Post-2015 Targets and Strategies for Ending Preventable Maternal Mortality

Post-2015: What’s next for maternal health?

As the 2015 deadline for the Millennium Development Goals is approaching, what does the future hold for international maternal mortality targets?

Learn more about the targets by reading the communiqué from the Ending Preventable Maternal Mortality (EPMM) working group or by watching one of the archived webinars.

“Maternal death due to suicide is a leading cause of death in the UK. The countries where health information systems are failing to capture this cause (several reasons) are probably the same countries where maternal deaths related to mental illness are the highest – i.e. in low and middle income countries”

PMHP took part to emphasize that

“.. key health indicators should include maternal morbidity factors, especially maternal mental illness data, which has particular relevance in low and middle income settings.”
